2:24 as someone whose almost entire cast of characters for my new project I’m making is full of old and new characters very clearly inspired by other characters in existing media, my characters do not look identical to the characters they’re based on. My OCs, while some do look more close than others, are also their own characters with unique traits, and look different enough from their inspirations that they are very clearly inspirations. Hell, I have a couple characters who accidentally look incredibly similar to other characters I had no idea even existed, or didn’t know what they looked like until getting into the piece of media long after I made my OC design. That is partially what people mean by “nothing is original, someone else already made it before”, because of coincidences, not entirely inspirations. With AI, you cannot do that. You cannot create a design that coincidentally looks like another character because it’s not a coincidence, the AI looks like another character because it was directly trained off art of that character.
