please dont actively poison data sets. it's not fair to the people who actually develop these ai's. youre not punishing people who use ai in a lazy way cuz they dont care in the first place. and i say this as an artist who also has a background in physics. i know everyone in this comment section is going to shit on me for daring to defend ai but guys it's a tool just like midi is to musicians. back when it first came out musicians were _terrified_ that it would take their job, but then products came out that actually supported their ability to make music because guess what? there will always be artists that want to create, and so there will always be a demand for creative tools that help them do so. i never see people talk about how chatgpt is stealing from book writers and scriptwriters and such, but it's the same damn thing. truth is when you post your art online it's open to any analysis, including that of a computer. yes, people can use it to essentially steal art, and that is an issue that needs to be addressed, but i myself have used ai to create artwork that took me HOURS to actually make because im not lazy about it and had a vision for what i wanted. i have also used it in my professional life as a marketing guy to make flyers for events that took me 2 seconds to make. the difference is one is art, the other is business. and you could say that we should pay an artist to make these flyers, but A) we dont have the kind of money to pay an artist to make upwards of 20 flyers, and B) making that kind of artwork is boring and monotonous. no artist would want to make that kind of art. you could also say i should just learn to draw, but it's actually quite hard to "just learn how to draw", and requires a time commitment that i simply cannot afford. i am constantly learning and practicing, but i have not yet developed a skillset that allows me to draw what i want how i want. and maybe after all of this you could say that i simply shouldnt be making art at all if im going to use ai, and to that i say: hell no. making art is half of my life (with the other half being physics). id rather be a loathed pirate than stop. i use ai to help me make the art i wanna make, because i wouldnt be able to otherwise. and just to be clear: i went to an artist first for some of my projects and the price on that was so much that i couldnt sustain it. i really like corridor digital's perspective on it: that artists should be using ai to assist in creating their art.
welp anyways let the anger flow im sure this comment will get a lot of shit -_-
