When I was in elementary school, a speaker came who was a paraplegic artist. His art was primarily photo-real paintings of landscapes... that he painted using his mouth. Even decades later, I still think about him and his beautiful art often. I wonder if he had been able bodied, would his artwork been worth the same amount? Maybe more, maybe less. Would he have even become an artist?
When AI defenders claim it opens up art to the disabled, I can't help but feel physically sickened by it. Art is often the last remaining outlet for disabled people, and AI has stolen their art and is trying to steal the entire medium from them.
