There IS skill and effort involved in making an AI generate an image with actual creative vision, it's just an entirely different skillset from conventional art. As different to painting as CGI is from sculpting. And like with early-2000's CGI, I believe we're just in the phase where consumer standards and creatives' skills haven't caught up to technology, so the majority of what we see is the wash of cheap garbage made by lazy attention-seekers and product-pushers. The only easy thing to make an AI produce is [generic anime girl] pictures, because that's the lowest common denominator of their datasets. But the moment you're looking for anything specific, such as a certain pose, composition, action shot, etc. AI-generation is more like trying to get a 2-year-old to correctly assemble a 1000+ piece lego set. It doesn't understand instructions like a human artist would, so you need to figure out the right combination of input prompts to produce the output you want to see, which is a difficult skill to master. I believe that eventually, when we as a society stop being impressed by [generic standing pose humanoid in common style], then people will focus more on the elements which make a piece *special*, the sort of creative design which AI cannot do. Then, we will have no problem seeing AI as a useful tool for making the realization of those creative ideas easier, and not something inherently good or bad about the piece—just a different technique.
