Artificial intelligence is something that we should all really be concerned about. It will come in dribs and drabs and eventually replace us. My position at work is slowly being replaced by AI. I can see it happening now. Mark my words, there are people that will look at this comment and think to themselves "oh he's worried about nothing" The time will come where you, whatever creed, background, ethnicity, level of wealth that you come from - reluctantly agrees with me. And by then it will be too late. Like terminator. Maybe not to that extreme but sometimes to me it feels like, if theres an automaton to do everything for us, then what's the point of humans existing? If we want assistance like that, then that's fine; as long as it does the laundry and dishwashing for us so we can have more time to create art. As it stands at the moment, we are revelling in the fact that it creates art for us. Songs, poems, essays - school assignments. Leaving us with more time to wash the dishes and do the vacuuming. It really is very backwards. Being a human being is about survival, and surely as time goes on we should be better at surviving. As it stands at the moment we are at this weird crossroads of advancement and regression where medical science is incredible, warfare is incomprehensible to most people, having drones drop ordnance on you, we all have supercomputers in our pockets, and highways, cars, But if anything should happen, nobody knows how to bake bread, or catch fish, sew, grow arable crops, raise livestock. They did know how to do that 300 years ago. Every teen-ager did. In an apocalypse situation if you took 5 kids from medieval Europe and 5 kids from modern America and put them on a desert island the kids from 400 years ago would survive. The modern ones would be doomed. I ask you - is that advancement or regression? If the answer is regression then we need to question what we are doing as a species. Especially if we have all these aspirations of being interplanetary.
