The question is, "If true AI happens, will we even notice?" Maybe if we somehow made it happen in a lab. Maybe. But my guess is that if it happens it will spring up outside of human control. The internet, depending on what you are counting as "neurons" is about half to many times the complexity of the human brain. Say the internet "woke up." Would it tell us? I think not. We may already be living with electronic consciousness and not even know it.
