Imagine the feeling when you are a veteran with some unseen scars from service. Imagine having a truly difficult night, and calling the VA suicide prevention hot line and being connected with what you thought was a human who could help you. And a few minutes in to the chat, you realize you are talking to AI. It was such a dehumanizing experience. It almost sent me over. Apparently that was during all the DOGE cuts, which did affect the VA.
