I think most people ignore that ai art is still art in a sense that it takes creative skill to make a good piece that can convey emotions etc. What ai art actually does is only take away the technical aspect of making art. It’s a medium, same as say a paintbrush, pen or spray bottle. The key difference being that while those take different amounts of technical skill ai art takes no technical skill at all. Now, if you want to draw a line on a certain amount of technical skill that’s required for someone to call themselves an artist, go ahead. But I think a lot of people just feel a negative stigma around ai art and therefore ignore the fact that it still requires a creative idea to make something good out of it. I personally still think ai art shouldn’t exist yet due to the fact that it has stolen art to train from non-consenting artists, but that’s a whole other topic. I do however think it’s fine for someone to make a copyright on their creative work/idea, similar thing would be how a game company can copyright their design of a character they had an artist draw since the idea of the design belongs to them.
