We've been warned through books and movies about the dangers of AI when AI was only a thought in someone's mind. Now it's here. And there is no putting it back in the bottle. I fear for the future. The only alternative that I can see to AI wiping us out will be for us to become part AI which will result in a new cyborg species. I don't think we can count on creating a beneficent AI that would counter one that would do us harm. But, in that sense we would be creating an AI god in our image that would fight against an evil AI that wants to destroy us. Maybe aliens know that this is the end for us and they are just documenting the end game.
