We have a bunch of egotistical, tech bro screw heads pushing this forward come hell or high water, and the potential for not just catastrophe, but apocalyptic catastrophe is enormous. But even in a best case scenario, the guys running this cattle drive are pushing the political whores they've put in office to allow for energy sucking server farms powered by an unconstrained and unregulated expansion of fossil fuel electical generating capacity which will accelerate catastrophic global climate outcomes. And if those tech bros succeed? They will have an A.I. which will be able to replace hundreds of millions if not billions of jobs in tens of thousands of occupations. And after that what happens if A.I. replaces most of the world's workers, including knowledge workers at the highest levels of medicine, law, finance, research, teaching, the arts and letters, and even upper corporate management along with almost all blue collar workers in trucking, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, building trades, and food service. and deprives them all of the means to make money and buy the basics of food and shelter? Overnight well over 80 percent of the world's population could well be made unemployed and destitute while all the world's wealth concentrates in the hands of these tech bros with some cash throw offs to their greatly downsized labor force. Does anyone believe that out of the goodness of their hearts the Bros will decide the worldwide economy will now need to run on some sort of socialist, wealth distributionist model to allow the unemployed billions to survive and thrive? Or is it more likely we'll see the Bros retreating to fortified enclaves, and maybe creating private armies to keep the starving masses of humanity at bay? Perhaps even creating death squads to "downsize" the population, so as to have a "final solution" to the threat those masses pose to them? And will society run by the Trumps, Bolsonaros, the Erdogons, and the Orbans and their militarys' see those decisions as being in the hands of billions of affected people or solely the Tech Bros Overlords' perogative? Wanna bet how that plays out? Maybe we should just look at what Trump is doing with SNAP to see the preview.
