I want to preface this comment by saying that this isn’t an argument for or against AI. I just found some parts of your arguments a little flawed and/or disingenuous. So maybe this will help you improve your arguments in future videos.
You kept showing Midjourney. First, the front page of their website isn’t hand-picked images that they’re proud of. They are recent generations by random users.
The quality of your chosen rabbit image is egregiously bad. I doubt any person is going to look at those buttons or boot and think they should use that for reference. The same goes for the anime-style girl’s hand and the lion drinking. If you want to make a point like this, showing an image that seems very high quality, even under moderate scrutiny, and then showing how using it as a reference would be bad, would make for a much stronger argument.
For a while, Midjourney was probably the best AI image generator around, but those days are long gone. So focusing on it too much might not be a good idea. The open source models have come a long way since then and people can use them for free (assuming their PC is up to par), so it really might be free for them to use, no subscription necessary. There are even closed source options like Imagen 3, Reve, and Recraft that can be used for free.
Lastly, comparing the failure of NFTs to argue against AI doesn't hold up well. NFTs were largely about digital ownership and scarcity, often tied to speculative markets and art. Their use cases were narrow and speculative.
AI, on the other hand, is a foundational technology impacting healthcare, education, productivity, science, art, and more. It's a general-purpose tool with real-world applications already in motion.
NFTs were often criticized for lacking tangible utility. People bought them because they thought others would pay more later.
AI is already solving real problems: diagnosing diseases, generating code, translating languages, optimizing logistics. It’s not just hype.
While NFTs got VC funding and media attention, the scale of investment in AI by governments, tech giants, and research labs is orders of magnitude greater. That’s not just money chasing trends, it’s based on decades of proven advancements.
Technologies like the internet, electricity, and the smartphone transformed the world despite early skepticism. AI is on a similar trajectory. NFTs resemble more niche tech fads (like Beanie Babies of the web3 world) than transformative platforms.
So while both AI and NFTs got lumped into the "emerging tech" buzz, AI is showing long-term structural impact, while NFTs largely rode a speculative wave. Comparing them isn't apples to apples. It's more like comparing a tool to a trading card.
Anyway, I hope you will consider these points to improve your argumentation if you make another video on the topic.
