I think AI art risks devaluing artwork in general. If art can be produced in seconds by a computer for pennies, why pay dollars for something made by a human? Especially if the AI can learn to replicate that humans style. It risks destroying that line of work outright, which I think is a bed outcome.
That said, I'm jot sure that AI is doing anything different from what humans do. We can all learn from each other and take inspiration from one another. And that seems to me to be the same as what an AI does when you train it on images made by real artists. Maybe there is something to be said about method - an AI just generates pixels, whereas people learn to manipulate paintbrushes and other media to produce an image. But I expect that AI can be made to learn that sort of thing too... so idk. I'm not sure anything like plagiarism is happening here, though I do think it can easily become problematic for artists.
