Definition of reasoning, understanding and consciousness is still very human-centric.
Even our own perceived reasoning, understanding and consciousness might be a simulated one that emerged through evolutionary pressures.
I agree with you that its very low-level by any definition for current AI, but I feel as we tick along, it'll go on a completely different tangent to what we expect.
