I am absolutely for the spirit of this video. All unfairly acquired material ought to be shamed and demoted. That said this statement: 17:29 needs attention.
There is a very good case that all commodities are the result of stolen labor (known in Marxian terms as ‘dead labor’) on account of the fact that all are made through the wage labour system; itself a process of stolen labor. In that case, all wheelchairs are, in fact, the products of stolen components.
My hope is not that people read this and say, “all wheelchairs are bad!” This isn’t the case. It’s instead to say, “the same processes that turn genuine art into capital commodities—music albums, mass distributed movies, chain restaurants—are worthy of the exact same contempt as is shown towards AI generated art. It’s all the product of stolen labor.
I understand this will rub many people wrong, but if you’re trying to stand on some principle of avoiding the material products of theft, then you shouldn’t simply stop at where you find the most convenience.
