An art youtuber named LavenderTowne actually recreated that cave painting with the hands! It was in a video about AI. She basically has the take on it as you, that even if your art is "bad", it's human, and that's what art is about. She encourages people to start making art now more than ever, as resistance. Anyway, she got a comment that went something like this (I don't remember perfectly, but this was the jist): "No, you people were born with a gift. I've come to understand now that I simply will never be able to make good art, that's why I use AI. You're just mad AI has leveled the playing field". Even before AI there's been the people who figure if they aren't good enough at art by X age/ after putting in X amount of time, that means they never will be. But that comment really made her sad, and I see why. I myself am both frustrated with, but sorta feel sorry for the people with this idea that artists have "a gift". No. I've worked my whole life to hone in the skills I have today. If you're willing to put in the work (which is NOT easy. At ALL. I still get frustrated at myself for "not being good enough", but,) you CAN do it. Anyone can with enough time and effort. And art doesn't have to be good. Honestly the most important thing in art, I think, is enjoying it. Myself that's something I'm having a really hard time re-learning. Oh to be a kid again, doodling nonsense for fun and enjoying it
