Does sentient AI deserve rights? Beyond its right to live, what other right does it need? The reason we have laws to protect humans is that we're an extremely fragile species that has many limitations where if we remove rights, we would die out. Humans have many needs in order to function, but robots and ai don't, because they don't have the capability of experiencing these things. You can destroy a robot and it won't experience pain, refuse to feed it and it won't feel hunger. Never give it a roof over its head yet never actually be in any real danger because the only shelter ai needs is the harddrive the ai is saved onto. Animals need protections because much like humans, there's many things needed for an animal to survive, and if those things are taken away, will die (with many having gone extinct because of no rights and protections). If an ai is in danger of being deleted, copy and past its code onto another device, and it continues to live on without ever having to fear death.
