Artificial intelligence is like humanity's final test of its humanity. I think there will be a physical separation between the elites, served by robots, and the useless people living behind walls. There will probably be two economies, two different zones, if the useless people don't die out, which is unlikely since there are so many of them. If the elites don't begin their mass extermination, perhaps to liberate the territories. There's another path: the migration of all people into the matrix, which will receive updates, making the virtual world ever more real, bringing it to perfection. Perhaps this is the very cycle of life in which we, as humans, endlessly revolve. every time reaching towards the era of the matrix and diving into ever deeper levels. :)
