I've a perspective on the 'why would a company who makes Sora make a superintelligence' question near the start. My guess is not just that it's for data, that it's more of a push for mass adoption/trust & brand building. The more people think 'ha-ha funny animals jumping on trampoline' when thinking of OpenAi or Sora or whatever else, the less likely they are to immediately protest when something big and bad happens.
I reckon AI will need mass trust (or indifference) to 'succeed'. We already know people are making huge money from the stock bubble, so they're bought in, but how might the AI industry appeal to people who aren't very online? Nowadays, it seems like silly facebook/insta/tiktok reels are the way to reach those folks. Sora is just one piece of the day-to-day life integration AI needs to do before a time comes when people don't really remember what it was like before it.
