The reduced-jobs or automated labour arguments are not exactly new though, it only now hits a group that hasn't been hit before. When factories started automating the process of making shoes in the 19th century, an angry mob stormed the factory to sabotage the machines. Literally, in fact, "sabo" is French for shoes. What I think is important here, is that we take a very good look how we, in general, reward only the rich business owners for automating away all kinds of jobs, without really compensating the people left behind. And this is yet another example of that.
I do think that automation in general is the way forward though.
