Geoffrey Hinton ("the godfather of AI) stated "yes, AI has a consciousness". The real problem is--AI making decisions without emotion, or caring about the effects of those decisions on humans / humanity is the equivalent of a psychopathic / sociopathic MO. Scary sh*t.
