Always get payment up front! Almost Every. Single. Time that I've worked pre-payment I have gotten SCREWED. The most baffling one was a restaurant owner who requested 3 images. I finished one and started a second, and wasn't paid a cent. This story has soooooo many red flags. It was not 'her project'. No mention of payment. Project was fanart. I would honestly be surprised if the client (she wasn't a friend; she was a dishonest client) did NOT use artist's art to train an AI.
