I grew up in former factory town USA that suffered when industrialization became automated, laying off workers, and temporary housing became the urban ghettos of today. Now you hear companies like Amazon laying off tens of thousands of workers, while investing billions into AI innovations. If a person has a good job, they are a good spender, and nobody spends like Americans. Do they really think AI can replace a customer and spend like a person on vacation and holidays?
