I think my most intuitive understanding of AI is that it’s so good as autocomplete that it’s become the best improv partner you can think of, using the logic of what someone would most likely do from written accounts of similar contexts. But humans don’t make decisions based on context alone - we do things based on what we feel.
Someone being told that they were cheated on by a spouse might lead them to react silently and curt, whereas it might lead to someone else to crying and wailing hysteria, and it might lead someone else to vengeful murder. It “hallucinates” because we are inconsistent in how we react to situations based on our daily mood.
