I’ll always say this, but ai art isn’t bad, people are just using it wrong. Ai art is a tool, not the method. Sure a hammer can hit nails, but without the method of a trained professional, the nail is going to be bent, and ultimately lead to a less stable build. Ai art is meant to inspire real art, I view ai art as more of a “random ideas generator”. We’ve already seen this put into practice a couple of times, there was that one time where an ai artist had this weird photo of a cat in front of a human and the artist community went wild with different characters and sorry styles redrawing the original and making it much better. I feel like people are getting mad at the wrong thing here, the problem isn’t ai art (though potentially having your art stolen to train a model is a big yikes), the problem is the ai “artists” who dare to think they belong anywhere within the artists community. Pick up a pencil and some paper, and make a terribly done doodle, that’s more respectful as art than any ai generated slop.
