AI generation dovetails perfectly with the anti-intellectualism currently animating the right-wing political uprising in the US, unfortunately. Cutting corners, stealing from artists, & undermining the idea that art properly even exists; these are all ideological platforms that appeal strongly to fascists for reasons that have nothing to do with art itself. Programmers replacing actual creative workers is a cultural touchstone for fascists as much as it is a valuable grift for tech investors. So, while the failure of the technology *as a technology* is inevitable, as a bludgeon to be used against certain industries & social ideals, it will do ok. These weird talking points in defense of AI are technically incorrect, in that they don't reflect reality, but that's not the point: these are ideas not about technology but about the kind of future these useful idiots want, about the kind of people it's acceptable to steal from & harm, about what kind of property rights are legitimate. This is why the actual history of Ludditism is so valuable here. This isn't an intellectual dispute about aesthetics, or even a legal dispute about intellectual property, it's class war. It's about who can steal from & abuse workers; the illusion being sold to the cretins in your comment sections is the promise that they too can be a capitalist & extract value from actual workers via fraud.
