I just ran across you, because I've watched Shadiversity before. I like his historical stuff about HEMA and castles. Who is the adorable puppers, playing with the red ball? I've been fiddling with a graphic novel on my bad days (takes my mind off of the pain) and the thought of AI art scraping years of labor is disheartening. I did learn to draw by looking at other people's art, and imitating their styles. The difference, I think is I consumed the art in a traditional manner (I bought the comics, or read the art books). Mostly, I learned from practicing, figuring out the motions my hands need to make and pressures/opacities for line weighting, finding ways to make lighting work with my particular shading, and the uses of the different tools. Now, I don't try to imitate people, I just try to make things look like the things that they're supposed to look like. And, after that lovely sentence... For book reviews, what genres do you review? I have a (admittedly extremely overwritten and error-filled) dark fantasy 1st novel. It's like 25 years ago and was written without a lot of the editing options we have now. Don't review that one. I reeeeeeally wanna rewrite it, but it's like digital art. Sometimes you have to say "it's finished," and move on. I also have a sci-fi novel (kind of a love story, but more about rediscovering humanity in the darkness of war) called Angel in the Black. I did the cover art and actually had an editor, so it's immediately better than the first one. You said you review the first chapter, but this novel is written in first person from the viewpoints of two people (they have their own chapters and personalities so the switches are pretty obvious). To get the first impression of both characters, you'd have to do the first two chapters. Is the one chapter rule, molded in steel, or a bit bendy? I guess more importantly, would you even be interested in a sci-fi war novel that takes place on one really awful moon, and in an equally (if not more) awful dark room on a ship? Also, I still love the puppers (don't let this admission sway your judgement).
