I often find opinions on autonomous vehicles completely ignoring how bad human drivers are. Autonomous cars should ideally be fully deployed the moment they are verifiably statistically safer overall than humans. The x-factor of autonomous vehicle accidents caused by other human driver error would also instantly disappear, if it was possible to just flip a switch and remove human drivers entirely.
People are more scared of not having a driver to blame for injuries/accidents than they are of actual autonomous vehicles.
