When you consider the atrocious inability for AI to make intelligent, literate subtitles for YouTube vlogs, even with spoken English, one is inclined to think AI stands for Artificial Idiocy. It is hopeless with place names or peoples names. To give one laughable example, where President Xi of China was the subject of the vlog, AI’s subtitle spelled his name “she” as if the subject was a woman. And that’s a comparatively innocuous example. Sometimes they are seriously egregious.Then there’s spelling. One would think a nation that can exquisitely land a car-sized exploratory vehicle on Mars 225 million kms from Earth and operate it successfully for more than a decade in that rugged environment, one would expect AI’s algorithms, to be able to spell basic English.
