the thing is, tesla autopilot technically isn't misleading. to the layman, probably but when you compare it to what it is named after, not entirely. a plane with autopilot is meant to relieve the pilot of control, but someone must always be awake and alert to take control if needed, on long stretches of flight. there's nothing necessarily wrong with the name "autopilot" besides peoples assumption that auto-pilot means "fully automated pilot", which is not true for tesla or on commercial aircraft. however if renaming it to something else that leads people to not assume what it can and cant do, then absolutely, change the name because people are literally going to sleep with autopilot enabled and people arent paying attention. once again, people are fucking morons. they trust the computer to do the work for them and just because of a name, they assume they dont need to pay attention even though tesla does their darndest to ensure people are not trying to fake being attentive and that they are actually awake and aware. even this automated problem is just a human problem because people are stupid. they put so much trust into such a new technology just because of what its called. even after it tells you repeatedly to pay attention and take over if needed, people end up dead because of this technology, due to peoples trust in the technology, even when the technology doesnt even "trust itself"
