The problem is, you cannot copyright an art style because its simply too vague in the grand scheme of things. Yes, humans cannot perfectly recreate another person's art style, but yet that can still come into some serious legal ramifications where large corporations and big artists can just claim you copied their art style, thus you have to pay compensation. If you were to sit someone who doesn't know your art down at a table to test which art is the oddball out, finding the one work that is just a human recreation of your art style, they would likely come into some serious problems if the styles look too similar. Would I want to have an opt-in system? Yes, but it just opens up a Pandora's Box if we can just copyright art styles now. I would most rather want to have open development of these tools like we see today than only a few companies to make said tools because they have the money to pay artists for their datasets. AI will eventually be a tool to help speed up the process and make more grand artworks we never thought we could do before, all thanks to making better tools for better efficiency in the process. What I wouldn't want is corporatist companies to have the sole capability to make such models.
