The problem with AI art is that what it should be is Symbiotic with artists that it collects data from. The machine is dependent on artists, yet it's being posited as their replacement. It could be made as a tool to help artists find reference images, put together an idea of what something might look like, it inherently has the function of assisting in content moderation, but the way its been implemented and the sheer volume of theft that was used for it to come online is just self defeating.
What I hope nightshade does is force a total reboot of the system. Burn down the house and build it again.
