I love NDT, but I think the general populous has a different definition of A.I. than NDT does. Like, he's talking about AGI as if it's something different - but I think the vast majority of the world considers them synonyms. I always understood the "AI" in the master chess programs to be programmatic: a special set of instructions written by humans to take analyze a very specific set of information and determine every possible outcome to find the best iterative step. Yes, we've called that "AI" in video games, but only for lack of vocabulary. Like, he's pretending he never heard of the Turing test or saw the Terminator movies.
