I think, when it comes to the ethics of it, one very good argument that someone made was the fact that AI in it's current forms, steals identities. It's in a similar way like art forgery. You can clearly see this when someone is typing in give me xzy in the style of Greg Rutkowski. Or the exmaple where someone used Kim Jung Gis artwork to train a model and make art as "homage" to him. All with the click of a button.
And that's kinda disturbing. Because it will make it much harder in the future to claim ownership of something. Because art is not just about the style. It's an expression. It becomes a part of the identity of the artist. And seeing how easily that can be striped away from someone with so little concerns? That's soul crushing.
