People are freaking out about AI because of all the fear mongering by every news source and influencer. Some of the fear mongering is inadvertent but it’s still the result of overblown pessimism. A few people made the claim that it replaces human creativity when used in art and that it steals from real artists. The average person is deeply offended by this and isn’t going to do their own research to see any other side of it. I’ve watched the rapid growth of all kinds of technology over the last several decades. Most people were not outraged by the internet or iPhones or social media. They were all about inviting computers into every aspect of their lives. But all of a sudden it’s gone too far and is going to destroy the world? I don’t buy it. People are fine with computers being integrated into every aspect of music production, including fake drums and fake piano. But when it’s a fake human voice that sounds convincingly real then there’s a problem? I think it’s awesome.
