I really have a gut feeling we are doing what our Ape brain does with uncertainty with fear of the unknown and fear of new things. Yes there is risk and it can't be stopped. However all the old people in AI are knowing about their own life is ending soon, they feel venerable, and what do old people do? They are always highly overreactive and afraid. Not saying that they might have a lot of good points or wisdom but there it is.
