Excellent video. Im glad you're putting a spotlight on Stability AI and LAION: this is industrial-scale theft by companies that are structured similarly to Money Laundring companies:
LAION is a Non-profit in Germany. In Germany they are allowed to use all public data for "research".
Stability Ai is a for-profit company. They have gotten 110 million dollars in a seed round, and are valued at 1 billion. They would be worthless without the LAION datasets.
Even though LAION is a Non-profit, they are funded by Stability AI. Their teams are heavily interconnected: a person on the LAION team literally wrote the paper on Stability Diffusion.
Undoubtedly the LAION team will be funded/hired/receive bonuses from Stability Ai in the future, similar to how politicians who help companies become highly paid lobbyists.
