Luddites were against a tech revolution that was literally maiming children en-masse and immiserating folks who used to have fulfilling jobs that supported them. They weren't "scared of tech", they beleived a technology that hurts humanity doesn't have a greater right to exist than the humans hurt by it.
Pretty sure they'd be down with using tech to fight an immiserating, polluting technology if it helped the artists AI is hurting.
