OpenAI definitely are not the good guys, they are the ones creating the race dynamics and not really caring about safe deployment. They say nice things, like that they have been aligning GPT-4 for 6 months before releasing it, but what they don't say is that before that they gave unaligned version of GPT-4 to Microsoft because they were rushing to release the Bing chat.
