As a developer myself I can tell you something. In my company we did a comparison between a a single senior and ai. Write a single simple kmm (multi platform) app, with structured acceptance criteria, defined designs and well documented apis which should be called. That one senior did it in two days on his own (test coverage of about 40%). He did it alone, without help. Ai: it needed a group of 2 devs to stitched the junk which was produced by it. It took a week to complete the task, just to get it working. No tests, the code was full of boilerplate stuff and copy pasta, code quality just mixed bag. The problem with it gives you solutions without thinking further. There are screen sizes, there translations with variable lengths, there are rotations which rearrange elements, there are race conditions, cellular gaps without any response and timeouts, all of which the ai is not aware of and doesn’t even take into consideration because “the prompt doesn’t mention it”. We humans can think about: what if api suddenly sends a bad response. Ai: the response is always perfect. Don’t buy into it, the ai will not replace us, or at least in next 10 years.
