id say he would have a point, if he had taken a picture, or drawn a sketch or something like that for the ai to turn into something new. in that case he wouldve had to create something first and transform it using the ai as an actual tool. the problem with ai is, that you can never get as close to what you want, as you would like, unless you give it something to base the picture on. and even then, it is mostly a shortcut, since some people would still be able to create, what the ai create and given the time, probably better.
but just simple text to image is not art.
