What happens if 99% of the population becomes unemployed?
If almost no one has a traditional income anymore –
who buys the products and services companies produce?
who keeps consumption, profits, and the economy alive?
The logical answer: No one.
The system as we know it would collapse.
And yet, this scenario isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds.
AI, automation, and robotics are already replacing millions of jobs.
The real question isn’t if our economy will change – but how radically.
Possible answers:
Universal Basic Income – financed by AI and corporations.
New forms of work – education, care, sustainability, community.
A post-work society – where humans are less “workers” and more “creators.”
My take:
The economy won’t disappear – but it will need to reinvent itself entirely.
The biggest challenge? Ensuring dignity, meaning, and participation for everyone.
What do you think:
Will AI destroy capitalism – or create a new kind of prosperity for all?
