I made a comment on the old video about drones in Ukraine about how EW isn't a panacea for fpvs but I didn't want to go into the detail about how autonomy was that counter. This episode clearly covers that. If you don't care about software assurance, everything that was discussed in this episode could be done with open source tools 5 years ago. Im genuinely surprised we don't see more footage of these capabilities from the Ukrainian war, but I suppose that make sense given the EW environment they're probably being deployed in. If they're not there, give me a call so I can help lmao. It is futile to attempt to regulate autonomous systems because of the mentioned "dropbear update" . It's decently hard to develop and test nuclear weapons in secret, but the software development for autonomous systems is trivial to obscure. That said, I agree with the French chief, swarms of small drones is a well understood threat. Saturation attacks have always been a problem with air defence and the writing has been on the wall for the significant cost reduction for this task for a long time. Low shot cost solutions such as lasers and more efficient gun systems will come online soon. But that won't stop drone swarms existing, just making having their counter a cost of doing business. I think the "realized threat" will be low, but the "potential threat" very high.
