My experience as a software engineer is that when a new technology comes to greatly enhance production, there are multiple categories of responses: (1) early adopters, (2) mid adopters, (3) late adopters and (4) resistors. The latter can resort to political backstabbing to keep their jobs. I saw that with test automation. I am certain it is happening right now with AI. There are likely clusters of people out there who know AI is coming for their jobs, so I am willing to bet variations of political resistance with corporate-style corruption is happening behind the scenes. I saw that with test automation meant to replace manual testers. Some of them would get really political to save their jobs. It gets ugly. AI is likely having the same effect in some companies. The drudgery of that resistor category can get absurd.
