14:28 as a disabled artist, i find this justification of using generative ai gross and disrespectful. weaponizing a vulnerable minority (while not even being a part of said minority!) to avoid responsibility for your actions is just pathetic. disabled people have always been a part of the art community. we do not need a soulless machine to create something beautiful. our disability is not an obstacle to be avoided, it’s our strength. our unique perspective on the world shines through our art. we can explore topics, ideas and experiences, which are unfamiliar to an able-bodied person. the very idea that a disabled person needs an ai to create something is ableist, as it assumes said person’s inability to do that by themselves simply because they are disabled. therefore, anyone who uses this argument is just as hypocritical as those who justify Elon Musk’s N*zi salute with the autism argument. this kind of behavior is disgusting and deserves nothing but mockery. don’t get me wrong, some conditions DO, in fact, make the process of creating an art piece more challenging, but that is exactly what makes it beautiful and unique. art was never something “easy” or “simple” (which is a point made by another artist, Cole aka colehairlesscat on instagram). even for able-bodied people, art is often about overcoming. the act of overcoming, learning, putting in effort and time gives art value, that no generated picture could ever have. those who ignore this obvious fact are ignorant and incapable of truly appreciating and understanding any art form, even less so becoming an artist. thank you, lavender, for showing examples of disabled artists in your video and making your comment section a platform for disabled voices to be heard. i wish that it would become the norm, but this is one step closer to that goal. for now, that is all i can hope for. ❤
