I think that, in an evolved society, we can discard the bulk. Manpowered AI will do most of the buying, while regular folks could just put some lump $ in an app and recover some part of it over time (such as paying $500 to buy a virtual shoe and receive $50 in the first month while running, $30 in the second month, $20 third month and so on - no need to overwork to please some boss).
