Just like with the AI, just because we think we are conscious it doesnt mean we actually are. The Brain is a physical object and thus consciousness can only be a physical thing as well. It is as newtonian as a rock on the ground. It is up to us to define what being conscious is. There is no truth to be found that will answer it for us. We decide if we program feelings and human properties into AI. They will become complex, just like our brain, and seem awake. But there is no line separating clearly what is conscious and what seems conscious. There is no meaning in anything. Intention and meaning are human projections.
