I was in a pilot program very similar to this which was for students with exceptionally high iq. Eventually it was completely shut down but the students that ended up being typically ‘successful’ also happened to be the students that came from upper middle class families and were very likely to succeed no matter what. The program proved to be pretty detrimental to about 60% of the students
