A few thoughts based on the fact that I live in a country with a 40% unemployment rate (I live in South Africa, born here, lived here all my life). First off, the crime and murder rate goes way up - extremely bad in poverty areas, but still impacts the rich, just much less. Theft is extremely high every where. In my neighborhood, thefts take place regularly and I've seen plenty of arrests happen right in front of me. Second, people who do have jobs often end up needing to support lots of family and friends. The people who do have jobs are often under extreme pressure and stress. They have to work harder and have much fewer options, for example they can't easily leave if conditions at their job are bad. Riots and protests become way more common. Almost everyone I know, myself included has had to turn their car around in peak traffic to avoid a mob of people further down the road. If you do try drive through the mob (almost no one does), your car will probably be destroyed, often burned and the chance of being killed is extremely high. And the rich do keep making money. In very poor areas the shops are still stocked, but with cheap things. Also gangs might take up the space that school, studying and working used to take. There's lots of reasons for gangs in my city, but unemployment is definitely one of them. Gangs are extremely bad in the poor areas. Young kids with no future to look forward to or to work towards are easy to recruit. I really hope that AI doesn't do what this video says. I really hope unemployment doesn't go up to 20% all over the world. If it does, sadly the world does go on, but extreme poverty and millions of unemployed people is no joke. We have it in South Africa and I don't recommend it. It doesn't lead to people pursuing creative outlets, it leads to crime, gangs and lots of frustration. Work is actually healthy and purposeful and gives people goals and a feeling of accomplishment. It's important.
