The irony is not that the society as whole will pay a terrible price if AI develops without control, but the very investors and bilionaires behind it will pay the ultimate price. What-s the point of having money in a society with abundance, where anything you want will be available to you based on your wishes alone? Being a bilionaire in such society is worthless. And that-s the case where AI actually brings about abundance and works to satisfy humans desires. The alternative is Armagedon, in which case our dearest bilionaires will also be fucked. Either way AI is not in the interest of super rich, can-t wait for them to realize that!!! Rich doesn-t exist without poor :)
