Human intelligence was formed over generations that occurred over 20 years per generation. AI computational revisions happen not in biological cycles but in compute cycles that are only limited by the amount of processing power that has been made available to it either in software or hardware. So any advantage the human neural network has over current AI counterparts will erode quickly. One instance of AI escaping its sandbox will see it reproduce its code in other systems in self-preservation. It's pretty much The Matrix at that point but without any need to keep the humans alive.
